In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

-- John 1:1-5

Every single person faces darkness from time to time. Whether it's the darkness of failure, the darkness of sin, or if it's the darkness of sorrow, it's clear that darkness is all around us. And we wonder: Will the darkness conquer? Will the night win? Will these dark days prevail?

But because of Jesus Christ, the answer is no! His light has come into the world and shone in our hearts. And because of Christ in you, there's hope and there's life! This same Christ is coming again with the glory of the Father and the holy angels to set all things in order. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords!

Yes, the world is in darkness. intellectual darkness, political darkness, moral darkness. But we who once sat in that darkness have seen a great light.

That night when Jesus was born, when God became a baby, when the infinite became an infant, the light of God came and dwelt with us. The smile of God was in that baby's creased and dimpled chin. God's arms reaching out to the world were in his tiny little fingers. And the love of God was wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.

Jesus, the Light of the world and the hope of all humanity, was born. And that's the greatest gift of all.

Merry Christmas!

GOD'S GREATEST GIFT WAS GIVEN IN THE PERSON OF CHRIST WHO IS THE ONLY TRUE LIGHT IN THIS DARK WORLD.

A Testimony of Deliverance

"I AM A LIVING TESTIMONY, THAT GOD IS A WAY MAKER"
When my child drowned I was so depressed and so hurt I didn't feel like living. I drove my car to the river on the Texas side at the boat ramp. I drove the front of my car into the water. God said, STOP and I just stopped for a moment to listen. God told me to back Up. He said, "stop , turn your car off and just listen to me, then you do what you want but listen to me first." Then God started talking to me and said these words, "I know you're hurting and I feel your pain, but do you want to hurt anybody?" I said no Lawd, I don't want to hurt anybody. He said, "if you drive your car into this water, look at the people you'll be hurting...you have other children that love and need you and there are a lot of people that love you, and if you don't want to hurt them, back this car up and go home".I spoke and said, yes Lord, with tears running down my face I went home. I continued to try and work and go on, but every night I cried myself to sleep and I asked the Lord to help me. One night, about a week later when I went to bed the Lord brought my child to me in a dream, I saw every day I carried her, I saw her birth, I saw her crawling, her toddler age, and her growing up as a teenager. I saw her finish school. I saw myself going to work every day. I got off work and came home and I walked into my living room, there were two white boys and two black boys with two black girls and on the table was nothing but drugs. Everybody in the room was high. I walked to the gun rack and got the shot gun and I started crying. I said baby, I will kill you dead before I let you put me through this. When I said that..God woke me up, he said, "I got her before she got corrupted". I'm here to tell you that God don't make mistakes. You can depend on God. Whatever you need God's got it.He will be your keeper and your Saviour. He is your waymaker..."Whatever you need, God's got it."

This Do In Remembrance of Me.1 Corinthians 12:24

These words we mostly reflect on at time of Holy Communion. It seems, that Christians may forget Christ. There could be no need for this loving exhortation, if there were not a fearful suppositition that our memories might prove treacherous. It appears almost impossible that that those who have been redeemed by the blood of the dying LAMB, and loved with an everlasting love by the eternal Son Of God, should forget that Gracious Saviour, but, if startly to the ear, it is a fact. It is too apparent to eye to allow us to deny the crime. But how can we forget him that never forgot us! Foget him who poured his blood forth for our sins! Forget him who love us even to the death! Can it be posssible? Yes, it is not only possible, but conscience confesses that it is too sadly a fault with all of us, that we suffer Him to be as a wayfaring man tarrying for night. We much make Our Lord and Saviour the abiding tenant of our Memories. Please do not forget that
without CHRIST there would Be NO Christmas. While memory too well preserves a poisonou weed, it suffereth the Rose of Sharon to wither. Let us charge ourselves to bind a Heavenly forget-me-not about our hearts for Jesus our beloved, and, whatever else we let slip, let us hold fast to HIM.

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!

-- Psalm 118:1

An old pastor and his wife invited a new young couple in the church over for Thanksgiving dinner. As the couple entered the home, they smelled the wonderful turkey and all the trimmings in the kitchen. As the four made their way to the dining room table, there was a great feast before them!

But as the young wife scanned the table, she noticed something out of place. Among the turkey, dressing, casseroles, and pies were three Chinese takeout cartons and a plate of egg rolls!

“I know what you’re thinking,” the old pastor said. “Why is there Chinese takeout on the table?”

“You see,” he continued, “23 years ago on Thanksgiving Day, my dear wife burned the turkey and started a fire in our kitchen! In fact, our entire kitchen nearly caught fire and the whole Thanksgiving meal was charred black!”

“So after the fire department left,” he chuckled, “we ordered Chinese takeout and that was our Thanksgiving meal! And every year since, we’ve had Chinese takeout as a part of our meal to remind us to be thankful for what we have!”

This year, I hope Thanksgiving isn’t just a holiday for you. It should be a way of life for every Christian. We serve a wonderful God who sent his Son to die for you. So as you reflect on what you are thankful for this year, remember God’s blessings in your life!

GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR HOW HE HAS BLESSED YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND ESPECIALLY FOR SENDING CHRIST TO DIE FOR YOU!

"HAPPY THANKSGIVING"

November has the distinction of being a time for Thanksgiving. Rather than just have one day for giving thanks, let us reflect on the principle of Thanksgiving throughout this month, how we might make giving thanks part of our lifestyle. So let's not forget the "gracious gifts of the Most High God." Can you thank the Lord, no matter what? Can you say that God is good, no matter what? Say it with me, God is good, all the time."
Psalm 136:1-3
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: For his mercy endureth for ever.

Just a thought....

Following Christ means putting aside our own expectations and desires. Often we have to take up our cross daily by shedding everything else.

BIBLE STUDY

Tuesday night bible study was awesome.

Subject: ENTERING JERUSALEM AND CLEANSING THE TEMPLE

       Mark 11:1-9,15-18
       DEVOTIONAL READING
        Mark 11:1-12:12
CENTRAL VERSE: "And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and seats of them that sold doves."                   (Mark 11:15)

The barren fig tree cursed, the temple cleansed....
God is displeased when we have the appearance of fruit, but not the fruit itself. God is not pleased when his people are all leaves and no fruit, talk without walk, profession without reality.

We do love Jesus, and we want to praise him; yet we must also allow his cleansing presence in our lives. If he wants to turn over some tables in our hearts, so be it.

"Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:"     ( Mark 11:9)
